Former journalist turned homemaker and playwright, Lim Hai Yen, chronicles her married life with MP Baey Yam Keng since 1997. The prolific writer’s latest book, "For Better, For Worse", has five chapters devoted to different roles she plays - as a writer, playwright, parent, wife and traveller. She also shares her first-hand account of her encounters with the late Mr LKY and the aspirations of various MPs past and present.
"For Better, For Worse" also gives an intimate insight into a dark period of the author’s life when she suffered aphasia at the same time that her husband was diagnosed with nose cancer. Yet, above all, the book is optimistic, upbeat and thought-provoking for those looking for “happy ever after” bliss.

雅意：新加坡华文报藏书画撷珍
From Gifts to Treasures: The Chinese Media Group Art Collection
新报业媒体华文媒体集团首次将多年来所得的书画藏作加以梳理、评析，出版成书。无论赠者之情，还是报社收藏之意，皆涵雅意，加之书中采撷乃收藏的精华，因此书名为《雅意：新加坡华文报藏书画撷珍》。
《雅意》从华文报收藏中精选出60几位艺术家的近90件作品，新加坡及海外约占一半，以水墨画居多，其他包括书法、水彩画、油画和陶塑。
Ｍore than 200 pieces of artwork, gifted mainly by local and overseas artists, have been collected during the century-long development of the Singapore Chinese press. These include Ink paintings, calligraphy, watercolours, oil paintings and ceramic sculptures gifted to Nanyang Siang Pau, Sin Chew Jit Poh, Lianhe Zaobao, Lianhe Wanbao and Shin Min Daily. They now form SPH Media’s Chinese Media Group’s (CMG) art collection.
From Gifts to Treasures – The Chinese Media Group Art Collection showcases nearly 90 works by more than 60 artists; half are local artists, while the other half are from various overseas countries.

Popular culture and mass media have glamorised and normalised the “mother” in heteronormative households.
But what about rape survivors and terminally ill mothers? Where is the public discourse on and recognition of teen, single, incarcerated, foster, surrogate, migrant and stepmothers? Do they receive the support that “regular” mothers do or are they seen as being less of a mother?
Is a mother defined only as the bearer of the child or the carer of the child? Is it the tummy mummy who matters or the daddy who also plays the role of a mummy who goes to all costs to have a baby?

A Blossoming City Garden
In 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic upended the world, more than 13 million people visited Gardens by the Bay. About half of them were Singapore residents.
That was the highest annual visitorship recorded for the Gardens, which opened in 2012 after five years of construction that cost about S$1 billion.
About 95 per cent of its grounds are free for people to access, and help is also given to the needy within the community to gain access to the ticketed attractions, such as the two cooled conservatories, Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.
Published in celebration of a decade of growing wonder, A Blossoming City Garden: 10 Years of Gardens by the Bay traces the evolution of Gardens by the Bay from the seed of an idea into a People’s Garden.
The commemorative book chronicles the efforts to create new programmes and attractions, such as the latest attraction, Floral Fantasy, which opened in 2019, as well as to keep the Gardens operating smoothly, especially during the pandemic.
The accomplishments of Gardens by the Bay over the past 10 years have been the fruits of the labour of many. The book documents the experiences of many of the key players and beneficiaries.
The book also features the aspirations of Gardens by the Bay as it embarks on the next chapter of growth.
